No Fear for Camera

The kids have absolutely no inhibitions while standing amidst crowds or facing the camera. They recite poems, names of countries in the worlds, sing songs and talk about activities at Siragu Montessori school

Visiting the pavement dwellers

Uma and Muthuram visit the pavement dwellers very often and treat them as their own family. It took them almost 8 years to gain these peoples trust so that they would send their kids to school. These are first generation kids who have families that have never attended school

Pre School Activities

The pre school children sort out colors in the board with the pieces given to them. They are familiar with all the shapes and try to detect colors and shapes in everything they do and every place they go. When they see vegetables, walls etc., they relate to colors. At the same time when they see the sun or moon or the black board, they identify shapes instantly. They relate whatever they study in their class in their daily routines and come up with lots of examples

About Us

Siragu Montessori School started in June 2003 and is a unit of Suyam, which is a Charitable Trust. It was started especially for children of the pavement dwellers and mendicants. This community never had any real opportunities for breaking out of their situation. Siragu was started with the objective of providing quality education to first-generation learners. SIRAGU started not only for street children but also for children from brick chambers and various parts of the society
